Chile is a long, narrow country set between the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean in southwestern South America. Its narrow shape encompasses a huge variety of latitudes, and it spans in altitude from sea level up to some of the highest mountains in the world.
Like several other countries in South America, we've seen some very cool container projects in Chile. The people there have many interesting topographies to work with!
Per Chilean officials, they had the first building code in South America. And due to their very active seismic conditions, they've continued to innovate and improve their codes over time.
Now, Chile is known for having safe and modern buildings. All the codes are approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (Ministerio de Vivienda y Urbanismo) and developed by the National Standards Institute (Instituto Nacional de Normalización or INN). Adoption and administration of the code is handled by local municipalities.
Below are some of our favorite Chile shipping container homes, restaurants, apartments, offices, and other container projects.
