This bold container home in Calgary was built for an environmentally conscious family. It’s made with four shipping containers stacked in a simple two plus two configuration but the finished product turned out quite luxurious looking.
Set in an eco-friendly community Echo Haven, this container house is in good company with other similarly minded owners. As the pictures show, the outside of the home is completely clad in stucco and metallic panels to blend in with the neighborhood. And even though you can’t tell it was built with containers from the outside, the neighbors surely noticed during the construction and appreciated the benefits.
Inside, there are a few exposed container walls used as accents, but otherwise, the home has drywall and floor coverings to hide the container origins. The floorplan is slightly unconventional in that the living rooms and kitchen are on the second level so there is walk-out access to the patio over the non-container-based garage. The first floor holds the bedroom areas. There’s also a basement underneath the containers, as is common for the area.
You have to appreciate this owner’s dedication to having a sustainable lifestyle and trying to minimize his impact. But the design of this container home is so nice that you can just as easily appreciate it for its looks and modern touches too.

Recommend checking out our Container Cost Calculator (https://www.discovercontainers.com/cost-calculator/) to start. Later, you can do a more detailed estimate (https://www.discovercontainers.com/shipping-container-home-cost-breakdown/) and/or get an estimate from a designer/builder if you decide to go that direction.
