This beautiful three-story house is made from twelve shipping containers and set in sunny Gainesville, Florida. With 2450 square feet of interior space in addition to a 1200 square foot garage/workshop on the ground floor, this home is spacious as well.
The stair enclosure is one of the most striking features. They used a 20 ft long container set at an angle of about 45 degrees, with a staircase set inside. When most container builds have containers set flat, seeing one at such a different angle really catches the eye!
Another incredible thing to note about this house is its energy efficiency. Thanks to shady overhangs, rooftop solar panels, adaptive reuse, generous amounts of insulation, and other building and design features, the home was able to achieve a LEED Platinum rating.
And not only is it impressive to look at, it’s quite livable. With expansive porches in addition to the open interior areas, there are plenty of places to relax. This home is really a great example of combining stunning architectural design with a motivation toward environmental friendliness.
