Queen Alexandria Container Home

Description

This high-end shipping container house is completely undercover due to its excellent use of cladding. Set in the Edmonton neighborhood of Queen Alexandria, the home is built out of six repurposed containers.

With three 40 foot containers set by side by side on each floor, this home did have the appearance of a plain, large box during the construction phase. However, the variety of colors and textures of the cladding really gave this home character in its finished state. We really love the wide, vertical wooden stripe on the front of the house that accentuates the entrance and focuses the eye on the address.

If you like open living spaces, you’ll appreciate how the kitchen, family, and dining area all flow into one another. And the bedrooms and bathrooms both have a high level of finish-out quality.

There’s also a great deck out back with plenty of room for patio furniture to enjoy the warmer months. But with a fireplace and spray foam insulation, you’ll still be warm during those cold Alberta winters.

For people who like the strength and quick construction of containers, but aren’t quite as into the industrial look, a house like this is perfect. The containers are covered inside and out, so a visitor will have no idea there are strong, durable shipping containers behind the walls until you tell them.
