The entire complex includes everything from a swimming pool to an apple orchard to outdoor barbeques. And don’t forget the lake that’s a few steps away for fishing and boating. It’s really a scenic area that feels like you’re far from the bustle of the city.

And yet, the property is only a 15-minute drive from the Tyoply Stan station on the Moscow Metro, one of the largest subway systems in the world. So while it may feel like an idyllic country village, it’s actually pretty accessible for a quick weekend trip.

The home is built from two 20-foot shipping containers, placed parallel and adjacent to each other, but with one offset from the other. This positioning gives the home a little more personality than a simple rectangular form would provide.

The home sits in a courtyard filled with flagstone and several trees. There are several comfortable chairs for relaxing, and even a telescope for nighttime stargazing. Even better is the built-in jacuzzi set in the massive wooden deck. And just adjacent to the jacuzzi is a sauna that’s actually built into the end of one shipping container.

In addition to the deck, the home also creatively uses wood on the exterior of the containers with approximately 2 by 8-inch lumber. The windows are framed with boxes, while the rest of the container has various boards angled in different directions that intersect those box frames. It makes an already modern container home look even more striking.

You enter the home’s rear container through a small porch made of this same wood, which has a built-in bench table off the side. As you enter the kitchen, most of the house is to your left, while the bathroom is to your right.

Walking through the kitchen, you look out the far end of the back container through glass doors onto the deck and jacuzzi. If you turn to the left, you see the living room and bedroom which are set in the front container. The two containers are joined and connected to create a zoom that’s a full 16-feet across.

The small living area is actually the up again the back wall of the sauna, though the sauna can only be accessed from outside on the deck. This means at the interior of the container home is actually slightly less than the 320 square feet you would expect, because perhaps 40 square feet or so are used for the sauna.

Just adjacent to the living room is the bed and creative double-sided shelf, which provides storage as well as a semi-private shielding for the bed. But since the home is only intended for two people, not much privacy is needed and the open-concept container home design maximizes the space.

Given that it is a container home in Russia where it definitely gets snow, we assume it is insulated pretty well. Unfortunately, we don’t have any details on the materials and methods used.

What we do know is that despite having less than 300 square feet of interior space, this home feels like a great size for a couple looking to spend a few days away. Thanks to the all the light, the wooden deck, and the rock patio, the home feels big on the inside and has plenty of room outside.
