This beautiful container home presents amazingly well from the street, with a sloping roof that caries from the second story down over the front porch. Looking across the facade, you can clearly see the containers on the first floor that flow all the way through to the back of the house.
Perhaps the most distinctive feature of this impressive home is the screened-in outdoor living area immediately adjacent to the interior living room. Separated by a two-sided fireplace, these two spaces provide room for lounging and dining, regardless of the season.
Inside, the container origins of the house are seen in the walls of the common spaces and the ceilings of the bedrooms. The staircase to the second floor actually starts beside the end of one container, making the doors, corner castings, and structural rails take center stage.
The home is filled with a mix of modern and traditional. For instance, notice how the warm wood of the floors and stair railings mixes with the expanded steel under the staircase banister. It’s just one example of the blending of styles seen throughout the home.
Finally, notice how the container architecture persists even past the home itself and into a cozy storage shed in the backyard. There will be no doubting that containers form the base of this cool home, no matter where you’re looking from.
