Gondwana Organic Farm Container Home

Description

This hybrid container home is one of a kind, marrying bright containers with the subtle earth tones of rock and the bright greens of climbing ivy and other plans. It’s located on the sprawling 865 acres of the 150-year-old Gowanda Buffalo Organic Mozarella farm near Ribeiro Preto, Brazil.

The home is built from two insulated shipping containers with the rarely seen 30ft length. It features masonry walls made from recycled stones, bricks collected from farms, and other adaptive reuse examples.

With 1400 square feet, the home is much smaller than the old farmhouse it replaced but still large enough for the owners and their children. Each of the two containers holds a suite made up of a bedroom and bathroom. The traditionally constructed part of the home, with rock and glass, holds the common areas like the kitchen, dining, and living areas.

The containers are only supported at their ends and bridge over the space between, creating a shaded outdoor location perfect for their picnic table. It’s a house of subtle touches, from the sliding timber and glass doors to the slanted hardwood floors. And with the spacious windows plus the swimming pool. this home can be enjoyed from inside and out.
