Red Fish Blue Fish Pensacola is a huge container bar and restaurant set right on the water in Pensacola Beach, Florida. This food, beverage, and entertainment destination looks as fun as it is uniquely designed.
The coast of the Gulf of Mexico is this section of Northwest Florida is known as the Emerald Coast. Here, the water is warmer and calmer than in the open ocean, plus it has a delightful green hue. And the sand here is finer and whiter than you’ll find in other beach locations, making beaches here feel especially exotic.
Made of numerous repurposed shipping containers stacked on two levels, Red Fish Blue Fish is clearly intended to use the strength of containers as an attempt to weather any future inclement weather that Florida occasionally experiences. But additionally, the multi-colored containers and industrial-chic vibe mesh well with the fun, beachy lifestyle of the area.
We especially love shipping container designs that include a 40-foot container turned on its end, like this one. These container towers are unmistakable and are a great landmark to draw in people passing by.
The restaurant serves up seafood (hopefully including the Gulf of Mexico favorite, redfish) and other Southern-inspired food that is simple yet flavorful. But when you’re not eating, there are yard games and impressive views in the ‘backyard’ of the location to keep you busy for hours.
In addition to shipping containers, the design also utilized repurposed wood planks reclaimed from an old Coca-Cola distribution center. And the eco-friendly features include solar panels.
For those who love the Dr. Seuss-inspired name but are located in British Columbia, check out Red Fish Blue Fish Victoria. It’s a much smaller restaurant in a much less tropical environment, but still has plenty of fish!
